publishing a pending event with a validation error changes underlying calendar prematurely before event owner is changed

Status: closed (fixed)

Reported by: johnsa Assigned to: douglm
Priority: major Milestone: Bedework 3.5
Component: web client: admin Version:
Keywords: Cc:

If a pending event has a validation error caught by the back-end when an attempt is made to publish, the calendar path is changed but the owner is not. The event cycles back around to be corrected but the owner can no longer be changed (the "publish" button vanishes because the event is no longer in the submissions calendar collection). Once corrections are made, the event is published, but the event will not show up in administrative lists except by searching. Because the owner remains the submitter, only a super-user can edit the event.

Solution: change the owner to the current administrative group even on validation error since the event administrator has committed to publishing the event.
